I knocked off work about 3:30 so I could go out and get some sunshine and it was GORGEOUSLY FABULOUS out there!!! Okay, a little cool but that will change starting tomorrow. And, guess what? You can hear peepers all over the place.

Google images have a generic name so they don't link. If you want to post it you have to right-click and save it to your hard drive then upload it to an on-line site.

Okay - everybody OUTSIDE! NOW! No more sitting on your butts staring into the computer. The world will continue to turn while you go out and get the stink blown off.

My daughter and I are taking a picnic lunch (and our new haul from Borders) down on the rocks at Halibut Point tomorrow. We've all waited so long for this.

As I sit here with a very sore body, I appreciate how very blessed we are to live in such a wonderful spot. The gardens are coming to life and one's spirits as well. Yes, the peepers, the birds, and the renewal of life......

The birdhouses that I made over the winter seem to be inhabitted. The thistle in the feeders is getting devoured. The peepers are peeping their heads off. And, ...the bugs are congregating around the porch light. Autumn and winter have their good points, but it's just so good to have spring here at last.
I can deal with a late start to summer. I can deal with a late start to fall. I can definately deal with a late start to winter, but God dammit I always want/need an early start to spring. |

The snow is only in a few shady spots here.. Yesterday, my daughters and I went out in the yard, and raked our flower gardens, of the old winter gook... We pulled up alot of old stuff, and to our pleasant surprise, some of the bulbs that we planted last spring and fall are starting to sprout up! After such a long, hard, cold winter, Spring is finally here! Now we just have to plant all of the seedlings that we have started..

I have been outside in the garden for the past three days and there are so many little green sprouts coming through the ground it makes me so happy. This time of year you really start to believe in God like never before because there is so much beauty and so much to be thankful for. I'm going back out to work in our gardens but remember that Goose Cove is open now and so are a lot of the other nurseries and don't forget Wolf Hill.

Went there over the weekend, thanks to Annie's post. Got the flowers started and looking good. I just need a few more shade-loving plants to make my patio complete.

I don't know where that came from McBrag. I'm a Libertarian, ya know.
Anyway, what a day today was. The air smelled sweet and the birds were going nuts. The spring peepers were doing their thing at 5AM, and my temporarily adopted dog was running around in little circles when I went to put her out and she didn't want to come in. The crows were cackling like crazy and bees were busy around the back deck. My daughter washed and packed away her winter clothes, and my son washed all of the windows and installed the screens. My brother went out on an AmVets chartered boat and brought me about 20 pounds of haddock which I promptly cooked and fed everyone, including 2 of my coolest neighbors. I'm just so happy that spring is here. |

It was really quite a gorgeous day though I don't think it got much past 72° here on Cape Ann.
Last night my friend and I packed a picnic and decided to drive down to Marblehead where it was MUCH warmer. In fact it was hot. We were out at the lighthouse finishing dinner when the mist started rising and the temp dropped really fast. The wind picked up and there were considerable waves. But, hey, we were outside in T-shirts and sandals (well, I had sandals on) having a picnic - how can you complain about that??? And after three days driving around with the top down I'm much browner than I was last Friday!!! The function of art is to deepen our communion with the universe. It always amazed me when I worked in the city and driving home on Rte 1A, you would actually feel the temperature drop 10 degrees about every 20 miles you got away from downtown. I saw some of the coverage of the marathon - it is amazing that only 140 people were hospitalized as a result of the heat yesterday. When I ran the Corporate Challenge in July a few years ago, there were about 5000 runners, and it was only a 5K race, but there were close to 200 people that were rushed to the hospital that night. Thank God for those people on the route who had garden hoses and oranges!!
HEY! I have a place to store my hardtop for the summer! I will try to catch up to your tan by the end of May!! |
